Two companies and a landowner, who is a member of a well known Co Tipperary business family, are being prosecuted in relation to the spreading of burnt animal feed waste on the landowner's property.

South Tipperary County Council's prosecution against David Ronan, Toureen, Bansha, Co Tipperary; Milltown Composting Systems Ltd, Sarsfield House, Sarsfield Road, Wilton, Cork; and Slievenamon Agri-Services Ltd, Tullicussane, Drangan, Co Tipperary, came before Clonmel District Court yesterday.

The case was adjourned until February 26th following an application from the solicitor for the council, Finbar Tobin.

Mr Ronan and Slievenamon are both charged with disposing of burnt animal feed waste at Milltownmore, Fethard, Co Tipperary between November 8th and 17th, 2006 in a manner that caused or was likely to cause environmental pollution.

Milltown Composting Systems Ltd is charged with transferring the control of large volumes of burnt animal feed waste to a person other than an appropriate person as defined by the 1996 Waste Management Act.
