Gardaí sent a file to the DPP in late July-early August of last year. It is understood that the file recommended the prosecution of the chief suspect. He was arrested soon after the murder and again last June under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, but he has never been charged in relation to the death.

The file on the case remains with the DPP's office.

The mass is taking place in the church of the Assumption, Dalkey at 7.30pm.
