Ledwidge only published one volume of poetry - Songs of the Fields- while he was still alive. However further collections followed in 1917 and 1918 with the help of local patron Lord Dunsany.

He was buried at Carrefour de Rose and later reinterred in the nearby Artillery Wood Military Cemetery.

A stone tablet commemorates him in the Ireland Peace Park in Messines, Belgium.
