In our editions of March 3rd under an inappropriate heading we reported that Danny McNamee had been awarded damages by the High Court in England arising from injuries suffered by him in an escape attempt from Whitmore Prison.
Mr McNamee's conviction was quashed on appeal. We regret that this was not reflected in our heading and that the heading and article were misleading. The Irish Times apologises to Mr McNamee for the damage caused to him as a result.
