In an item in the Weekend supplement of May 22nd, under the heading "Wedding Windfall", we stated that Dromoland Castle had cancelled a wedding reception booking to facilitate the wedding reception of footballer David Beckham and his fiancee, Victoria "Posh Spice" Adams. The Irish Times now accepts that no such booking had been made by David Beckham and Victoria Adams and that Dromoland Castle is a professionally-run hotel and, as such, a double-booking of this nature would not occur.
The Irish Times also apologises to Dromoland Castle and its management for this publication and regrets any damage caused to its reputation both nationally and internationally.
