Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a robbery yesterday in which two men working on behalf of Dublin Corporation were threatened with knives and bundled into a back of a van in the city.
The incident happened at around 1.20pm on King's Inn Street, Dublin 7 when the two security men who were emptying parking meters were approached by a number of men armed with knives.
The security men were forced into the rear of their white Ford Transit van.
A number of cash boxes were removed from the van, which was later found abandoned on nearby Dominick Street.
The two security men were uninjured in the incident.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and have asked businesses who may have been approached by anyone seeking to change an unusually large number of coins to contact them at Store Street Garda station.
One of the raiders is described as being of stocky build and about 5' 8" tall. He spoke with a Dublin accent.
