Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a shooting in Dublin's north inner city last night.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a shooting in Dublin's north inner city last night.

A number of shots were fired at a ground floor flat in Liberty House, Dublin 1 at around 10pm.

The shots hit door and window of the flat but the two people inside at the time were not injured.

A Garda spokesman said it is believed the gunman, who was wearing a hooded top, fled the scene on a bicycle.

In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man was arrested after offensive weapons were seized during a raid in Donnybrook. Customs officials and gardaí  raided a house after a consignment of 10 stun guns as well as knives and knuckle-dusters were intercepted at Dublin port. It is believed the weapons were   imported from Thailand onboard a cargo ship. The man, arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, is being questioned at Donnybrook Garda Station.
