All three were from the northside of the city and it is thought that one of them asked another teenager for directions when a row developed.

The teenager then went into a house nearby and came out with a knife which he used to stab Mr Nolan in the upper body. A 17-year-old man was arrested in a nearby house a short time later.

"An-18-year old man was removed to St Vincent Hospital where he was pronounced dead," a Garda statement said later.
