Palestinian President Mr Yasser Arafat left the United Arab Emirates today at the end of a tour to drum up support for a Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.
The official WAM news agency said Mr Arafat and UAE President Mr Sheikh Zaid bin Sultan al-Nahayan discussed the serious threat to regional peace from Israeli practices and crimes and the need for a united Arab stand.
Gulf news agencies said Mr Arafat returned to Gaza after his talks in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
Rising violence between Israel and the Palestinians has heightened regional and international concern that the Middle East is slipping towards war.
At least 492 Palestinians, 129 Israelis and 13 Israeli Arabs have been killed in the bloodshed that erupted in September.
Mr Arafat yesterday held talks with Saudi Arabia's King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, securing political backing and a 45 million aid grant to offset the impact of the uprising.
In Saudi, Mr Arafat also discussed the convening of an emergency Arab summit on the situation in the Middle East.
