Lord Archer is expected to be allowed out of prison today to attend his mother's funeral.
Mrs Lola Hayne died on July 11th as Archer's trial at the Old Bailey was coming to a close.
The service is taking place in Grantchester, Cambridgeshire.
The news of his mother's worsening condition was given to Archer during his trial for perjury and perverting the course of justice.
The 61-year-old peer, currently in Belmarsh prison, south-east London, was given permission to go to her bedside at her nursing home in Saffron Walden, Essex.
Mrs Hayne, who died aged 87, will be cremated in a service at 10.30 a.m. at the Cambridge crematorium Madingley, followed by a service at noon at Grantchester Church.
A Prison Service spokesman has refused to discuss Archer's case, saying the decision to let Archer attend will be taken by the prison governor.
