A 15-year-old Argentinian killed four fellow students and wounded six today in a school shooting.
The shooting took place in a middle-class neighborhood in Carmen de Patagones, a town 620 miles south of Buenos Aires and gateway to the remote Patagonia region.
"Right after the flag was raised (to begin school), the boy went to the classroom and began shooting. Three died there, one was seriously injured and died in the hospital and six were wounded," the director of education in Buenos Aires province, told local radio.
The shooting was typical of the violence that has hit high schools in the United States but was a rare occurrence in Argentina and all of Latin America, local media reported.
The teenager, who had no history of violence, used a 9 mm pistol.
