Retail giant Argos is seeking up to 700 temporary staff in Ireland for the forthcoming holiday period.
The company, which has 39 stores in Ireland, said it intends to recruit the employees to help it during the months leading up to Christmas and into January.
Argos said it is offering flexible working hours and staff discounts.
The company opened its first stores in the Republic in January 1996 in Limerick, Nutgrove and Dublin.
According to accounts filed with the Companies Office in January 2010, the Irish unit of Argos almost tripled its pretax profits to €16.8 million last year from €5.4 million a year earlier.
The increase was in spite of the UK-owned catalogue retailer sustaining a 13 per cent drop in turnover from €315.3 million to €273 million.
Application forms are available in all local stores or from www.argoscareers.com/christmas
