Armagh forward Barry O'Hagen has announced his retirement from the intercounty scene in light of last year's All-Ireland winners panel being announced ahead of the new season.

O'Hagen said the high level of travelling from his home in Donegal to the Orchard County had become "too much from a work and family point of view". Killeavey forward Barry Duffy is another notable absentee from the panel.

On a positive note Aaron Kernan, son of the Armagh boss, and Oliver Gaughran have been drafted into the panel.

As for the experienced Oisin McConville he is hoping to return in time for the National League. The Crossmaglen player had delayed going for an operation to a prolapsed disc until the end of last season.
