A man was being questioned today after an armed gang was intercepted by gardai in Co Donegal last night.
The man (49) was arrested in Ballybofey, Co Donegal.
Gardai spotted a gang acting suspiciously in the town about 8pm last night and checkpoints were set up. A handgun was recovered after a car was stopped.
It is understood gardaí believe the gang were dissident republicans planning an attack on security forces in the North.

The arrested man, who is being questioned under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, is being held at Letterkenny Garda station.
Further checkpoints have been set up in the county and searches have been carried out in the hunt for three other men.
