Johannesburg - South African police yesterday said they had destroyed thousands of weapons in a joint operation in its poorer neighbour Mozambique to stop them from being used in rampant violent crime. They eliminated more than 5,500 machineguns, sub-machineguns and automatic rifles as well as 518 anti-personnel mines, four landmines, 79 rocket launchers, 13 cannons and three million rounds of ammunition.
