The Defence Forces association, PDFORRA, has welcomed the recent findings of the Government's expert hearing group which the association says indicates that more than 70 per cent of deafness claimants will receive compensation.
Mr John Lucey, general secretary, said the group's report vindicated the association's stance on the issue.
"PDFORRA have always insisted that the people making claims for hearing damage were justified in doing so, and that sooner or later some form of resolution must be found for this problem."
PDFORRA executives, however, expressed concern at the expert group's omission of hearing losses at 3,000 Hz for the assessment of hearing disability.
