A controlled explosion was carried out early this morning on a suspect device found under a car in Magherafelt, Co Derry.
The alarm was raised when the device was spotted at Hazeldene Park at around 10.30 p.m.
A British Army bomb disposal team was called and the area was cordoned off. Several families were evacuated.
A controlled explosion revealed the device to be an elaborate hoax, a PSNI spokeswoman said.
