The former Army barracks at Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, has been sold to the North Eastern Health Board, the Minister for Defence, Mr Smith, announced yesterday.
The site will be used as a high-support childcare residential unit and will encompass a gymnasium, all-weather pitch and a swimming pool, which will be open to the local community when not being used for childcare services. The unit will provide 45 permanent jobs. The military barracks was closed last year.
