A warrant for the arrest of a man who was last year cleared of the manslaughter of a Dublin drug addict, Mr Josie Dwyer, was issued by the Court of Criminal Appeal.
Mark Alford, of Seagull House, Crumlin, Dublin, was convicted of violent disorder and of assault on Mr Alan Byrne, who was with Mr Dwyer when the two men were attacked in Dublin on May 14th, 1996. Alford was jailed for 20 months by the Dublin Circuit Court on June 7th, 2000.
On July 26th last year the Court of Criminal Appeal granted Alford bail pending his appeal. Yesterday Mr George Birmingham SC, for the DPP, said Alford had violated his bail conditions.
