French substitute Sylvain Wiltord scored twice for Arsene Wenger's side after Chelsea's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had cancelled out Thierry Henry's penalty opener for Arsenal.

All the goals came in the second half of an often ill-tempered London derby.

The match turned ugly seven minutes before the interval when five players were booked in the space of three minutes after a confrontation between Chelsea captain Dennis Wise and Arsenal's Robert Pires.

Henry calmly slotted the spotkick into the corner of the net for his 17th goal of the season.

Chelsea, without an away league win all season, were behind for only 10 minutes thanks to a wonderful curling shot by Hasselbaink from the edgeof the area - his 18th goal of the season.

It was the first goal Arsenal had conceded since the 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the premier league on January 13 at Highbury.

Chelsea substitute Eidur Gudjohnsen then volleyed against the post but Arsenal went back in front after 74 minutes.

Central defender Igors Stepanovs lifted a long pass forward and Wiltord, who had only been on the pitch four minutes, outpaced Marcel Desaillyand lifted the ball over a stranded Carlo Cudicini in the Chelsea goal.

Wiltord made it 3-1 after 85 minutes with a low finish on the turn after Lauren robbed Celestine Babayaro on Chelsea's left flank.

In the day's other fifth round tie Liverpool play host to Manchester City. The match starts at 1600 GMT and is followed by the draw for thequarter-finals. -Reuters-
