Exams have been disrupted by arsonists who attacked a secondary school in north Belfast, the education minister said today.
Valuable sports equipment was also lost after a sports hall at the Boy's Model on the Ballysillan Road was set alight yesterday, Caitriona Ruane added.
The fire was started deliberately in a storeroom at the building and it took firefighters four hours to extinguish the blaze.
Ms Ruane said: "This attack on the schools sports hall is to be strongly condemned. It has resulted in the loss of valuable sports equipment and caused disruption to end of term exams. I would urge anyone with information to pass it on to the PSNI."
The hall was empty at the time. It had been intended for use for non-GCSE tests.
Belfast Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers and North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds also criticised the arsonists.
Boy's Model is in a deprived part of north Belfast. Other schools in the area have also been attacked in the past.
