It was a fine stylish gathering in the Kerlin Gallery when they held a summery opening for their group exhibition on Thursday night. Many of the artists from the Kerlin stable had managed to make it to the event including Elizabeth Magill, who came from London, and John Kindness, who travelled up from his studios in Co Carlow where he is currently at work on a piece for Belfast children's hospital.
Dorothy Cross was there, sporting cow skin shoes very reminiscent of one of her own pieces - she is also displaying work in LA at the moment. Gwen O'Dowd is also on show overseas with an exhibition coming up in the MacMullen Museum of Art in Boston, while Paul Seawright, the Glen Dimplex winner, is exhibiting in Rotterdam. Maurice Foley, chairman of IMMA, chatted to AIB's Michael Buckley and painter Fergus Martin. Marie Redmond of X Communications came along with a few students from Trinity's multi-media MA course, of which she is head, and artist Mick Wilson who lectures there. Architects Andrejz Wejchert and his wife Danoute and publisher Antony Farrelli O Cuiv, also attended.
