THE Arts Council is to appoint new personnel to promote community arts in Ireland and promote Irish art internationally. The council is also to retain a consultant to advise on architectural policy. These are among six senior appointments announced by the council yesterday.
The new appointments are for an arts officer with responsibility for community arts, arts centres and festivals an executive assistant for international arts; an arts officer for literature; an executive assistant for administering council bursaries to individual artists; and an executive assistant for administration and information. Their consultant will be responsible for architectural policy and projects.
The new director of the Arts Council, Ms Patricia Quinn, said the appointments would help to develop the council's role as a development agency for the arts. The closing date for applications is Friday, April 11th.
