A man was critically ill in hospital in Belfast last night after being assaulted in Co Antrim

A man was critically ill in hospital in Belfast last night after being assaulted in Co Antrim. He was found with head and facial injuries in Glengormley on the outskirts of Belfast at around 11 p.m. on Saturday. The police have yet to identify the man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s. He has receding hair and was wearing a navy T-shirt and jumper and a pair of trousers with a check design. He had a metal key-ring inscribed with the name Lowry, and was wearing a wedding ring and a signet ring. Meanwhile, two men were injured in separate paramilitary-style shootings.

An 18-year-old was admitted to hospital on Saturday evening with gunshot wounds two both legs after an attack in Strabane, Co Derry. In Belfast, a 21-year-old was treated in hospital for gunshot wounds to the ankles after a shooting in the west of the city at about 10 a.m. on Saturday.
