Nimroud - A team of Iraqi archaeologists have unearthed the remains of an Assyrian temple and sculptures in the north of Iraq, dating back to the era of King Assurnazirpal II in the 9th century BC. The head of Iraq's archaeology and heritage department, Dr Jaber Khalil Ibrahim, said two giant winged lions, frescoes and reliefs had also been found at the Nimroud site, 30km south of the town of Mosul.
