The ASTI's standing committee is meeting today to discuss planned industrial action by teachers beginning on March 4th.
An ASTI spokeswoman told ireland.comthe meeting was not likely to finish before 5 p.m. The 23-strong committee may give the go ahead to ASTI members to withdraw from supervision and substitution duties from March 4th.
Earlier this month, the union rejected a Government offer of €34 an hour for the work currently being carried out by its members.
However, the union agreed last night to meet the Minister for Education, Dr Woods, for talks on the issue.
