The Central Executive Council of the ASTI is to meet tomorrow to discuss proposals put forward by the Department of Education, a spokeswomen said today.
The Council's 180 members will meet at 11.30 a.m. tomorrow to discuss proposals on payment for supervision and substitution.
Representatives of the ASTI met the Department of Education and other teachers' unions today to discuss supervision and substitution, having re-opened communication with the Department during the summer.
The teaching unions want an allowance of about £2,000 per annum for supervision and substitution cover. They also want this allowance to be regarded as a pensionable payment.
Talks between the Department of Education, the teaching unions and school managers were suspended on Wednesday night without agreement.
Relations between ASTI and the Department had seriously deteriorated after the union’s industrial action during the past school year.
The ASTI had withdrawn supervision and substitution as part of this action.
The ASTI said its 30 per cent pay claim is being regarded as a separate issue.
