At least 30 people have been killed after a fuel-tanker exploded in Port Harcourt, the centre of Nigeria's multi-billion-dollar oil industry.
It is not clear if the explosion is linked to unrest in the area where rebels recently promised to step up their campaign of bombings and kidnappings.
It is not yet known what caused fire and police have no firm casualty toll.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, it comes one day after the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) claimed responsibility for an oil tanker blast in the city.
In a statement released yesterday, the group said that its fighters had detonated "a remote explosive device" that sparked the blaze on the vessel which was berthed at the Port Harcourt seaport. More to follow...
