A 24-year-old Irishman has died while on holiday on the Spanish island of Majorca.
The death of the man, from Athlone, Co Westmeath, took place at the resort of Santa Ponsa.
The holidaymaker died in an incident late on Sunday or early yesterday. It is suspected he fell from a balcony.
He has been named locally in Co Westmeath as Daniel Kenny.
Mr Kenny had only flown out to the island on Saturday or Sunday for a holiday with friends.
Police are investigating the circumstances of Mr Kenny’s death.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is in contact with his family in Co Westmeath and is providing consular assistance.
Santa Ponsa is a popular resort in the southwest of the Balearic island of Majorca.
At least four other Irishmen in their 20s have died in incidents abroad this year. Last month, a Co Mayo man died after falling from a balcony in Barcelona.
