An attempt will be made this morning to recover a lifeboat which was swept onto rocks during a rescue operation off Rathlin Island last night.
The Portrush lifeboat was thrown on to the rocks by a huge wave at around 7.30pm yesterday as its crew attended an emergency call from a stricken rib boat.
No-one was injured in the incident and the people on board the stricken rib were taken to safety by Rathlin Coastguard.
A spokesman for the RNLI said a tugboat from Derry would attempt to free the lifeboat at high tide later this morning.
