World rugby league champions Australia will go ahead with a truncated tour to Britain next month, Australian officials said today.
The Australian Rugby League (ARL) board said the tour would be shortened to three weeks with only three tests to be played against Great Britain instead of the original seven-match schedule.
The ARL reconsidered the cancellation of the tour after a Rugby Football League appeal and criticism by the Australian and British media.
The original tour was cancelled because of safety concerns following the September 11th attacks on the United States and the subsequent air strikes on Afghanistan.
