Australia leg spinner Shane Warne became the equal leading wicket-taker in test cricket today after claiming seven wickets in the second test against Sri Lanka.

Warne (34) has now taken 527 wickets in 112 tests to equal Sri Lanka off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who missed the two-test series in Australia for personal reasons.

Warne had 520 wickets going into the second test, then took 3-129 in Sri Lanka's first innings and 4-66 from 32.3 overs in the second innings with Sri Lanka 174-8 and battling for a draw in fading light with nine overs left.

Warne claimed his 527th wicket when he had Upul Chandana stumped for 14 in the 76th over of the innings.
