The Irish actor and writer, Mannix Flynn, has won a Fringe First award at the Edinburgh Festival for his one-man show, Talking to the Wall, writes Victoria White. The show chronicles the troubled childhood and teenage years of a working-class Dubliner and his progression from reform school to prison to a life on the stage.
Flynn's own life has followed the same path which led to his successful performance 20 years ago in a play about prison life, The Liberty Suit, which opened at the Project Arts Centre just six months after he was released from Mountjoy.
