British Airways posted a first-quarter pre-tax loss less than the market feared today and estimated the cost of a wildcat strike at its main London hub at £30 million sterling to £40 million.
Europe's biggest airline said it had a pre-tax loss of £45 million for the three months to the end of June, compared with a £65 million profit for the same period last year.
BA and trade unions reached agreement yesterday to end a costly labour dispute after an unofficial strike at Heathrow airport for 24 hours from July 18th forced the airline to scrap more than 500 flights.
