AMMAN - A Sri Lankan consulate employee testified in a Jordanian court yesterday that the building had been set up for a "baby for sale" racket; where infants were sold for about $8,000 (£5,333) each.
The woman was the first witness in the criminal trial of three employees at the Sri Lankan consulate in Amman accused of buying and selling about 35 babies for a total of $250,000 since 1991.
