The Government has set aside £369 million to help people move from welfare to work. This will be supplemented by an additional £47 million from the European Social Fund, bringing the total welfare-to-work package to £416 million. The Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney, said the Estimates were "firmly geared toward getting people into the many jobs that are available in the economy and up-skilling those already in employment for the increasing competitive challenges ahead".
