The Special Criminal Court has refused bail to brothers from Finglas, Dublin, who are facing explosives charges

The Special Criminal Court has refused bail to brothers from Finglas, Dublin, who are facing explosives charges. Mr Kenneth Patterson, a former member of the Defence Forces, and his brother, Alan (both 31), from Griffith Parade, Finglas, were arrested by Special Branch detectives in Dundalk last month.

They are charged with unlawfully possessing an explosive substance at McEntee Avenue in Demesne, Dundalk, Co Louth, on June 9th. Yesterday Det Supt Peter Maguire of the Special Detective Unit said he believed that if granted bail, they would commit further serious crime. Both men were remanded in custody until July 25th.
