Ballet Ireland has announced the closure of its Dublin site with the loss of 130 jobs.

Ballet Ireland has announced the closure of its Dublin site with the loss of 130 jobs.

Citing continued pressure from an increase in global competition as the reason for the closure of the plant in Glasnevin, Ballet said it had been forced to restructure with the closure of operations in Britain in 2000.

In a statement the company had been depending on financial support for a number of years from its parent group and that it had been making losses for a significant period of time.

However, the statement said, the brand will continue as its Dublin operations will be spread across the group.
