Bangladesh today returned the bodies of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers killed in a clash two days ago, an officer said.
The 15 bodies were handed over to the BSF at 7.30 p.m. (1.30 Irish time), said the officer from the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR).
Officials earlier said at least 16 BSF soldiers and three BDR personnel had been killed in the clash, which raged over two days. But the BDR officer today gave no account of the 16th BSF man when he confirmed the handover.
Indian media reports said BSF had refused to accept the 15 corpses because they were mutilated beyond recognition.

The BDR officer said he had no information about any such refusal.
