Flamboyant French goalkeeper Fabien Barthez could quit Manchester United because his supermodel fiancee refuses to live in drafty northwest England, the Daily Mailnewspaper reported Saturday.
Glamour girl Linda Evangelista and the shaven-headed Barthez have been together for several years but it was only last month the couple were engaged to marry.
Barthez said during the summer that he intended to see out his six-year contract with Manchester which he signed last year.
But the Mailsaid he had now revealed to friends in France that he was ready to leave at the end of this season.
"Linda has made it clear she would not be happy spending their married life in Manchester," the newspaper quoted a close friend as saying.
"He is seriously contemplating making the sacrifice of moving to ensure their relationship survives," the friend added.
