Tonight’s battle between strugglers Longford Town and Monaghan United ended in a 1-1 draw. The result is of little use to either side, who occupy 10th and 12th spots respectively in the Premier Division.
Longford had been hoping to regain some confidence after their midweek 5-1 mauling at the hands of Bray Wanderers, who are next up for Monaghan, but they failed to get by the newly promoted side.
It was the visitors who went ahead after 58 minutes with a goal from Trevor Vaughan, and they could almost sense that their first win of the season was in the offing.
