Food company Batchelors has announced today it will close its Athy plant in Co Kildare with the loss of 16 jobs.
The company says its manufacturing operation there will be moved to its Cabra site in Dublin.
The development of the new manufacturing facility, which will involve investment of over €1 million, will create new jobs, although the company said it was reviewing how many positions would be created.
Batchelors, which employs 270 people, also makes the Erin range of foods.
