French actress Brigitte Bardot flew into Britain last night to attend a final appeal hearing which could save the life of Woofie the dog.
Ms Bardot looked every bit the movie legend as she arrived at Edinburgh airport by chartered Falcon jet to join the battle to save Woofie. Campaigners claim the collie was condemned to death for doing no more than barking at the postman.
Ms Bardot said: "Judges should concern themselves with murderers and assassins. It's a stupid law. The law should be changed. I hate injustice, and this case is very important for the other dogs who will bark at someone. Woofie only barked and did not bite." She spoke in a mixture of French and English.
She said she would be flying back to France today after the hearing at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. When asked what her message was for the Scottish court, she said: "I will asked them from very deep in my heart for mercy for Woofie. She is not guilty. She is a dog. She is not a murderer."
