BBC executives are believed to have waived their annual bonus after the corporation failed to meet its diversity targets.

BBC executives are believed to have waived their annual bonus after the corporation failed to meet its diversity targets.

Sources said director general Mark Thompson and other top bosses had decided to forgo their annual bonuses - collectively worth tens of thousands of pounds.

It is believed that the move followed the failure of the BBC to meet a number of targets on the percentage of black and Asian workers it employed.

Gerry Morrissey, general secretary of the broadcasting workers union Bectu, said that if confirmed, he would welcome the decision.
