Last night's episode of Eastenders, in which the Fowler family in the soap opera visited their Irish relatives, was the subject of "a number of calls" of complaint from Irish viewers, a BBC spokeswoman said.
During the episode, the Fowlers had to contend with dreadful roads and suspicious hotel staff. One viewer complained to The Irish Times about a scene in which the "Oirish" hotel staff would not allow the Fowlers to occupy the room they had booked because they were expecting the Towlers.
