A racist document calling on people to expel members of the Chinese community from an area of Belfast has been condemned.

The leaflet, distributed in the Donegall Pass district of the city, where a number of Chinese-run businesses are located, urged that the identity of the district should be "protected".

It also claimed that the number of Chinese people living and working locally undermined the community's Britishness.

Ms Padraigin Drinan, a lawyer representing the Chinese Welfare Association, said many of her clients were business owners who had improved the economy of the part of Belfast involved.
