A young man has been remanded in custody on charges relating to three assaults in Belfast city in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Steven McBrine (20), with an address at Tollgate House, Bradbury Place, Belfast, was accused in Belfast's Magistrate's Court of assaulting Mr Vincent Ziritt causing him grievous bodily harm, and causing actual bodily harm to a police officer and to Mr James Smith.

He was also charged with attempting to rob Mr Smith of his wallet, of having an offensive weapon in Crescent Park and with disorderly behaviour.

He was remanded to appear by video link on April 30th. His solicitor said an application would be made for High Court bail.
