Police in north Belfast were today investigating attacks on a number of homes and cars in a sectarian flashpoint area of the city.
Windows were smashed in six houses and three vehicles during the early morning incident on the Serpentine Road.
SDLP councillor Pat Convery said it was the second such incident in a week and he described the atmosphere in the area as tense.
"I want to emphasise that there is only one way that we can deal with this problem and that is to co-operate with the police," Mr Convery said.
"Incidents like these can be very damaging to community relations in the area and are totally unacceptable."
Detectives have appealed to anyone who was in the area when the attacks occurred to pass on information. The PSNI confirmed a sectarian motive was one of their lines of inquiry.
