A 17-year-old is recovering in hospital after he was shot in both feet in a so-called paramilitary "punishment" attack on Monday.

The youth was abducted by a number of masked men from a house at Forest Street in the Springfield Road area of west Belfast at about 8.30 p.m. yesterday. He was brought to Arundel Walk where he was shot.

During a separate incident in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, three youths aged 15, 16 and 19 were punched in the face and beaten around the arms by masked men with baseball bats.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old was beaten by men armed with baseball bats as he walked near Ballykeel Bridge in the town.
