Hollywood film actor Patrick Bergin flies to Dublin this week to attend a "Valentine's banquet" in the State apartments in Dublin Castle on Friday. The Irish star of Sleeping with the Enemy will recite a "romantic piece of poetry" by W.B. Yeats at the event, being held to raise funds for the charity International Orphan Aid.

Singer Sinead Lohan will also perform at the banquet. Items to be auctioned include a set of champion racehorse Danoli's shoes and a signed shoe worn by dancer Michael Flatley.

The Minister for Social Welfare, Mr De Rossa, will host the event, and the Chinese ambassador to Ireland, Mrs Fan, will be guest of honour. Tickets are still available from International Orphan Aid, telephone 01 2781234.
